WILSON, N.C.-Junior Meredith Pruden and freshman Randi Price picked up wins for host Barton College in a 7-2 Conference Carolinas women's tennis loss to No. 10 ITA Southeast Region ranked Pfeiffer University on Saturday afternoon at the Barton Tennis Complex.
The Falcons remained undefeated on the season improving to 12-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference. The Lady Bulldogs slipped to 8-5 on the year and 2-3 in league tilts.
Pfeiffer coasted through doubles to take the 3-0 lead by scores of 8-2, 8-2 and 8-3.
Pruden put the Royal Blue and White on the scoreboard with a marquee win against 2013 All-Conference Third Team honoree Hannah Watson. Pruden won in the fourth position by matching 6-2 scores. Pruden has won four consecutive singles matches and boasts a team-best 9-3 record.
Price registered the Lady Bulldogs other win in the fifth slot. Price (4-5) held on in three sets winning 6-4, 1-6, 7-5.
BC freshman Ananya Sarkar fought hard in a three-set loss to Taylor Lindsay at No. 2. Lindsay escaped with the 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 victory. Other big wins for the Falcons included Olivia Nelms over sophomore Smiljana Kljajic and Valeria Mendoza over Alicia Lasry in straight sets.
Lindsay and Mendoza were both First Team All-Conference selection last season.
Barton hosts Randolph-Macon College on Monday at 4 p.m.
