MONTEVALLO, Ala.-Four Lady Bulldog seniors all crossed the finish line within 75 seconds of each other to lead Barton College to a 13th place result out of 19 teams in the 2014 Falcon Classic hosted by the University of Montevallo on Saturday morning.
Barton was competing in its first 6,000-meter race of the season.
The Falcon Classic also served as a preview for the 2014 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional as the Montevallo Cross Country Course will host the championship in November.
Angelica Del Real led the pack of four Lady Bulldog seniors to the finish line with a time of 25:25. Del Real finished 45th out of 120 runners. Lauren Andreola finished the endurance race just 23 seconds later in 54th place with a speed of 25:48. Andrea Roca and Cimone Barbour had similar times of 26:32 and 26:39, respectively, to produce results of 74th and 76th overall.
Sophomore Heather Cuddington provided BC with its fifth team counting time of 27:32 while Jamicia Jones (28:38) and Eva Amo-Mensah (28:55) provided the Lady Bulldogs with important displacement times over harriers from the six teams Barton defeated. Lauren Yoho (29:04) and Tikycia Young (29:40) also completed the race for the Lady Bulldogs.
The host Falcons cruised to the team title with 58 points, well ahead of second-place Wingate University (111 points).
Barton will conclude the regular season portion of its schedule at the Sand Shark Invitational hosted by USC Beaufort on Saturday, October 25 in Hardeesville, S.C.
