WILSON, N.C.-The Barton College women's tennis team won 96 of 102 games play on Tuesday afternoon en route to a convincing 9-0 victory over visiting William Peace University.
The Lady Bulldogs won its second straight match to move within one game of .500 at 3-4 overall. The Pacers remain winless on the early season at 0-3.
Sophomores Caroline Fischer and Kristy Lievense and freshman Alicia Lasry all won their singles matches by flawless 6-0, 6-0 scores. Sophomore Mika Deane coasted at 6-0, 6-2 as junior Lindsey Frederick and sophomore Francesca Del Pozo dominated with matching 6-0, 6-1 wins.
Frederick increased her team best win-loss record to 4-1.
The Lady Bulldogs maintained control from the beginning by only losing two doubles games. The tandems of Deane-Frederick and senior Lindsay Toth-Del Pozo both scored perfect 8-0 routs. Fischer-Lasry had to fight the most winning the middle pairs match 8-2.
Deane and Frederick are 5-2 together at the No. 1 doubles position for BC.
Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play on Friday when the Lady Bulldogs entertain Belmont Abbey College at 3 p.m.
