SALISBURY, N.C.-Sophomore Alicia Lasry won both her singles and doubles matches in a 6-3 NCAA Division II Southeast Region women's tennis loss at Catawba College on Wednesday afternoon at the Johnson Tennis Center.
The Lady Indians remained undefeated on the early season at 3-0 by rallying from a 2-1 deficit after doubles with wins in 5-of-6 singles matches. The Lady Bulldogs finished play in the fall at 1-1 overall.
Lasry teamed up with Meredith Pruden for a narrow 9-7 win in the middle doubles draw before she earned a second point for the Royal Blue and White with a 6-4, 6-2 win in the third singles position.
Lasry – from Caracas, Venezuela – will boast a 2-0 singles record throughout the winter before play resumes in February.
Barton held the one-point lead after the three doubles matches with the help of an 8-4 win by senior Lindsey Frederick and freshman Smiljana Kljajic in the top tandem.
Lasry, Kljajic, Frederick and Pruden are all undefeated in doubles action this fall at 2-0.
Catawba surged ahead with straight set wins at No. 1, 2, 5 and 6. Pruden forced a third set at No. 4 but eventually fell 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
Barton women's tennis will begin competition in its spring championship season at Francis Marion University (Florence, S.C.) on Saturday, February 2 at 1 p.m.
