WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (11-6, 7-3) made it two victories in a row with a 5-2 triumph over Chowan (5-12, 2-8) Sunday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas match at the Michalak Complex.
The Bulldogs swept all three doubles matches while a quartet of Barton players – seniors
Leonie Hellum-Lilleengen (Bekkestua, NORWAY) and
Eulalia Pascual Biosca (Albatarrec, SPAIN), junior
Claudia Zaratiegui Marquez (Barcelona, SPAIN) and sophomore
Alejandra Carmona Garcia (Fraga, SPAIN) – earned victories in singles and doubles action.
Hellum-Lilleengen rallied to beat Chowan's Aime Vera (Santa Fe, ARGENTINA) by a score of 4-6, 6-1 and 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
Barton steps out of conference play to host North Carolina Wesleyan on Tuesday afternoon starting at 2:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, Chowan travels to Mount Olive, N.C., to take on Mount Olive on Friday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m., in a league affair.
