WILSON, N.C.-In preparation for the 2012 Conference Carolinas Tournament that begins Tuesday the Barton College men's soccer team used 22 players in a 3-0 non-conference loss to St. Andrews University on a windy and cold homecoming game that served as Senior Day on Saturday afternoon.

BC sixth year head coach Matt Akins used the contest against the NAIA foe that had no effect on Barton's postseason outlook as a chance to give valuable playing time and experience to is younger players as the Bulldogs battle several injuries.

Barton's coaching staff honored its senior class of three in Richard Worth, Justin Taylor and Luke Costanza before kickoff. The trio all started the match.

St. Andrews (7-8-1) scored a pair of goals in the first 15 minutes and finished the month of October without a road loss going 4-0-1 in tilts away from Laurinburg, N.C. Brendan Duncan scored the game-winner just 9:36 into play on an assist by Andy Zimiso Stewart. Caio Liberatti doubled up the visitors advantage in the 15th minute with his team-leading eight goal of the season after deflecting a cross by Aristeidis Tzimas from the right corner.

After halftime, SAU kept the momentum as Scott Ashbridge headed-in a corner kick taken by Filipe Checco just 62 seconds into play resuming to finish off the Knights scoring plays.

Barton never got any shots on goal. Worthy took half of the Bulldogs six errant shot attempts while sophomore leading scorer Dante De Luca took two cracks at scoring for BC.

Junior goalie Vasily Yakimkin took the loss allowing the first two goals in the start. Yakimkin, who was playing with an injury, made three saves before freshman Derek Collins took over protecting Barton's cage in the first half. Collins made one save.

Barton (7-8-1 Overall) will enter the Conference Carolinas Tournament as the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 seed North Greenville University in the quarterfinals on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
