WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (8-8-3) was upset by Ferrum (5-8-3) by a 2-0 score Wednesday night in the First Round of the 2025 Conference Carolinas Championship at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.
The Bulldogs were the fifth seed in the tournament while the Panthers were seeded 12th. With the victory, Ferrum advances to the quarterfinals on Saturday when the Panthers take on No. 4 North Greenville (9-5-3) beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Both Alex Bhutia (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and Jonathan Nicacio (Naples, Fla.) found the back of the net for the Panthers in each half, respectively.
Nicacio's goal, his team-leading seventh of the season, with just 5:15 remaining in the contest but the match out of reach.
Barton, which beat Ferrum twice in the regular season, held a 34-14 edge in shots taken despite the loss. Ferrum's goalkeeper, Michael Arzillo (Virginia Beach, Va.), earned the shutout victory to go along with 10 saves. Barton senior
