MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (7-7-3, 6-4-2) held on to beat rival Mount Olive (2-8-6, 1-5-5), 2-1, Tuesday night in a key Conference Carolinas contest at rainy and wet Amon Field.

Hayden Summerfield (Norwich, ENGLAND) and junior defender
Kai Thurston (Harleston, ENGLAND) scored goals with a three-minute span of each other early in the contest to help the Bulldogs take control. Summerfield now has a team-leading three goals on the year.

Akos Tajtyi (Castellon, SPAIN) assisted on both goals while senior goalkeeper
Pedro Bonfa (Sao Paulo, BRAZIL) earned the victory after stopping seven shots on the night.
Barton also sweept the season series from Mount Olive. For the Trojans, Kevin Jimenez (Knightdale, N.C.) found the back of the net while Nick Cutlip (Bunn, N.C.) suffered the loss in goal.
Barton hosts Virginia State for Senior Day in its regular season finale on Saturday, November 1, at 4:00 p.m. Mount Olive, meanwhile, hosts league-foe Ferrum on Saturday starting at 3:30 p.m.
