NORMAN, Okla. – Four members of the Barton College men's golf team earned 2024-25 NCAA Division II Cobalt All-America Scholar honors: sophomore
Giovanni Bruno (Padova, ITALY), junior
JoseMaria Gutierrez (Mexico City, MEXICO), junior
Ryan Jahr (Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.) and senior
Mitchell Soma (New Albany, Ohio).
Bruno, Jahr and Soma all earned 2024-25 All-Conference Carolinas honors while Jahr and Bruno earned conference all-tournament laurels as the Bulldogs won their third consecutive league championship in April. In addition, Barton earned a berth in the NCAA Division South/Southeast Regional Championship for the fourth consecutive season.
In all, 207 NCAA Division II student-athletes were recognized from 78 institutions.
To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate's degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA.
In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
