NEW ORLEANS, La. – Two members of the Barton College outdoor track and field teams – senior
Aniya Heckstall (Scotland Neck, N.C.) and freshman
Darion Drye, Jr. (Kannapolis, N.C.) – earned 2025 NCAA Division II USTFCCCA All-Southeast Region honors.
Heckstall made the team in the women's 200-meter dash while Drye, Jr., garnered the selection in the men's discus.
Heckstall holds the school record in the women's 200-meter dash (23.74 seconds) and has qualified for the 2025 NCAA Division II Championships in the women's 100-meter dash (a school-record 11.49), becoming the first-ever Bulldogs' women's athlete to earn a spot at the national finals.
The D-II championships take place from Thursday, May 22, through Saturday, May 24, at the CSU ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colo.
Heckstall was also the 2025 Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track and Field Championships Women's Athlete of the Meet after winning the women's 200-meter dash and taking second place in both the women's 100-meter dash and the women's 400-meter relay.
Drye, Jr., holds the school record in the men's discus throw (163'11") and finished runner-up in the event at the league championship to earn all-conference honors.
The top five individuals in each event from each region earn All-Region honors in addition to each of the members of a top-three ranked relay team. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.
