CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Barton men's and women's outdoor track and field teams put together several impressive performances Friday at the Johnson C. Smith University Collegiate Invitational at the Irwin Belk Complex.
Barton sophomore
Brandon Waller (Cabot, Ark.) won the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.86 while sophomore
Trey Lamm (Lucama, N.C.) took first in the men's 3,000-meter run (9:28.61). Waller topped the men's 800-meter run for the third straight meet.
In addition, freshman
Brandon McClary (Salisbury, N.C.) and sophomore
Cameron Walker (Thomasville, N.C.) took second and third in the men's 100-meter dash with a times of 10.64 and 10.75 seconds, respectively.
Finally, Barton graduate student
Jacob Oliver (Winchester, Va.) finished fourth overall in the men's 1,500-meter run as he crossed the finish line in 4:22.33.
On the women's side for the Bulldogs, freshman
Lena Warren (Clayton, N.C.) won the 1,500-meter run (5:19.12) while senior
Keiarra Tutt (Bayboro, N.C.) took runner-up in the 400-meter dash (56.16).
Barton also received third-place finishes from freshman
Hayleigh Fonville (Jacksonville, N.C.) in the women's long jump (16'7") and the women's 1,600-meter relay (4:34.10). The relay quartet included Tutt, sophomore
Angel Agyeman (Goldsboro, N.C.) and freshmen
Juliana Duke (McLeansville, N.C.) and
LaShawn Jones (Hope Mills, N.C.).
The Barton outdoor track and field teams will be back in action next Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11, at the Trojan Relays on the campus of the University of Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C.
