MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Barton College's
Aniya Heckstall has been named the 2025 Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track and Field Championships Women's Athlete Most Valuable Player.
Heckstall, a junior from Scotland Neck, N.C., captured the league title in the women's 200-meter dash with a first-place time of 23.74 seconds. Heckstall also took second place in the women's 100-meter dash (11.57) while both times were new school records and national provisional qualifying times.
Heckstall was also part of the women's 400-meter relay for the Bulldogs which took second place with a school record and national provisional qualifying time of 46.32 seconds. Joining Heckstall on the relay team were sophomore
Erica McClary (Salisbury, N.C.), junior
Keiarra Tutt (Bayboro, N.C.) and freshman
Angel Agyeman (Greensboro, N.C.).
On the men's side for Barton, freshman
Darion Drye, Jr. (Kannapolis, N.C.) earned all-conference accolades thanks to a second-place finish in the discus (163'11").
The women's team took sixth place overall while the Bulldogs' men's team finished 13th overall. Mount Olive swept the team titles.
