WILSON, N.C. – Barton College has named Kevin Danahy the school's new Head Men's and Women's Swimming and Triathlon Coach. Triathlon will be launched in the Fall of 2026.
As a professional triathlete, Danahy was the 2023 USA Duathlon National Champion, an ITU World Cup Champion and the 2005 Vineman Ironman Champion. Danahy reached a No. 1 world ranking in 2003 according to ITU Duathlon and represented "Team USA" in seven world championships over his racing career.

I believe in creating a program that develops successful student-athletes on and off the field of competition."
Danahy was a professional triathlete from 2000 to 2008 and is currently the Owner and Operator of TriCoach, LLC.

A three-sport student-athlete in college (cross country, track and field and soccer), Danahy is a 1999 graduate of the University of Delaware with a bachelor's degree in coaching and a minor in history.
Danahy also earned his master's degree from California University of Pennsylvania in 2014 in exercise science (injury prevention and performance enhancement).
