ROCK HILL, S.C. – Three members of the Barton men's golf team – senior
Mitchell Soma (New Albany, Ohio), junior
Ryan Jahr (Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.) and sophomore
Giovanni Bruno (Padova, ITALY) – were named to the 2024-25 All-Conference Carolinas Team.
Jahr leads the team in stroke average (71.4) while garnering all-league accolades for the second straight season. Jahr also has three consecutive top-three finishes and tied for second overall at the 2025 league championships on Tuesday on his way to league all-tournament laurels.
Bruno has a 72.8 stroke average – second-best on the squad – and also earned 2025 Conference Carolinas Championship All-Tournament honors after tying for seventh overall at the league tournament.
Soma was an All-Conference Carolinas honoree for the second time in his collegiate career and ranks third in stroke average (73.4) so far this year. Soma won the Chowan Intercollegiate on Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, in Ahoskie, N.C.
Meanwhile,
Derek Hamm was named the Conference Carolinas Men's Golf Coach of the Year for the fifth straight season. Hamm coached the Bulldogs to their third straight league title earlier in the week.
Barton earned an automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional Championship which takes place at the Mission Inn Golf & Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., from Thursday, May 8, through Saturday, May 10.
