VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Barton College men's and women's indoor track and field teams had an impressive performance with a pair of first-place finishes at the Betty S. Rogers Invitational at the Virginia Beach Sports Center on Sunday afternoon. Virginia Wesleyan University served as the host institution.
Barton junior
Aniya Heckstall (Scotland Neck, N.C.) won the women's 60-meter dash (7.67) and placed first in the women's long jump (a school-record 18'4") to lead the Bulldogs. Heckstall also took fourth place in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 25.51 seconds.
In addition, Barton sophomore
Jaidan Lee (Charlotte, N.C.) crossed the finish line first in the men's 200-meter dash (21.97) while freshman
Nolan Gamwell (Stantonsburg, N.C.) was runner-up in the men's 5,000-meter dash (16:41.50).
The Bulldogs also had a pair of third-place finishes: freshman
Zseven Tookes (Wendell, N.C.) in the men's triple jump (44'3") and sophomore
Jordan Bobbitt (Rocky Mount, N.C.) in the men's 200-meter dash (22.04).
Finally, rounding out fourth-place finishes for Barton included sophomore
Jacob Oliver (Winchester, Va.) in the men's 5,000-meter run (16:51.38), freshman
Julian Pearsall (Greer, S.C.) in the men's 60-meter hurdles (9.11) and freshman
Erica McClary (Salisbury, N.C.) in the women's 60-meter dash (7.98).
The Barton indoor track and field teams next compete at the 2025 Conference Carolinas Championships on Sunday, February 23, and Monday, February 24, at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
