WILSON, N.C. – Barton College has named
Eric Garza Assistant Softball Coach.
Since 2022, Garza has served as Head Softball Coach at John Champe High School in Aldie, Va.
Garza led the squad to its first district championship in addition to reaching the regional finals and earning a berth in the state tournament all four seasons.
In addition, Garza was the Head Softball Coach at Taylor Middle School (2021-25) in Warrenton, Va., and the Head Baseball Coach (2016-21) at Manassas Park High School in Manassas Park, Va.

I am excited to work with (Head Coach) Courtlynn Cooney and help build on the strong culture that has been created. I'm looking forward to developing our student-athletes and contributing to a championship-level future in Wilson."
Garza earned both his bachelor's degree (criminal justice) and master's degree (administration of justice) from Columbia Southern University in Orange Beach, Ala.
Garza served as Police Lieutenant for the Prince William County Police Department in Virginia for 25 years (1999-2024) and headed up the Virginia Glory, a National Level Softball Travel Organization. Garza is also a Softball Skills Instructor for SixFour3 Softball.
