WILSON, N.C. – The Barton softball team (7-9) split a doubleheader with Kutztown (Pa.) (4-4) Monday afternoon at Jeffries Field. The Golden Bears won the first contest, 6-0, while the Bulldogs run-ruled the visitors in the second game, 8-0, to salvage the split.
Game One – Kutztown 6, Barton 0
Kutztown's Haley Gravish (Hamburg, Pa.) threw a three-hit shutout to improve to 3-1 on the season while Emily Henn (Matamoras, Pa.) hit a three-run home run in the fifth frame and Caitlyn Ashley (Limerick, Pa.) added a solo round-tripper in the victory.

Haley Inman (Stokesdale, N.C.) fell to 3-3 after being tagged with the loss.
Game Two – Barton 8, Kutztown 0 (five innings)
Barton sophomore
Emily Bobo (Mount Ephraim, N.J.) (3-5) threw a two-hit shutout while striking out five batters and senior first baseman
Savannah Olson (La Plata, Md.) finished with three hits, a pair of doubles and three RBI to help the home team split the doubleheader.
Barton freshman third baseman
Keira Farmer (Monroe, N.C.) added three hits and three runs scored while senior outfielder
Makenzie Cyzick (Dayton, Va.) ended the contest in the bottom of the fifth frame with a walk-off run-scoring double.
The Golden Bears' Amanda Slabicki (Langhorne, Pa.) fell to 0-2 after suffering the loss.
Barton opens Conference Carolinas play on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m., in a home doubleheader against Chowan. Kutztown, meanwhile, will take on Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday starting at 4:00 p.m., in West Palm Beach, Fla.
