RALEIGH, N.C. – The Barton men's and women's swimming teams swept the William Peace Tri-Meet Saturday afternoon at the Willis R. Casey Aquatic Center on the campus of North Carolina State University.
On the men's side, Barton (448.8 points) downed both Chowan (416.2) and William Peace (408.2) while the Bulldogs' women's squad beat both the Hawks (359.7) and the Pacers (330.6).
In the men's competition, Barton junior
Natan Alexandre (Sao Paulo, BRAZIL) won both the 100-yard (58.94) and the 200-yard (2:15.22) breaststrokes and was part of the first-place men's 200-yard medley relay (1:38.50).
In addition, senior
Owen Rasinske (Hillsborough, N.C.) finished first in the men's 200-yard freestyle (1:47.45) and was part of both men's relays that touched the line first: the men's 200-yard medley and men's 200-yard freestyle relay (1:29.11).
For the women, Barton graduate student
Megan Schueller (La Plata, Md.) won a pair of races – the 100-yard (1:07.28) and 200-yard (2:31.43) breaststrokes – and swam the second leg of the first-place 200-yard medley relay (1:54.99).
Both junior
Cali Younker (Blaine, Tenn.) and sophomore
Kaylie Carik (Mayer, Minn.) were swam in the Bulldogs' top winning relays – the women's 200-yard medley relay (1:54.99) and the women's 200-yard freestyle (1:47.93) – while sophomore
Addison Sawyer won the women's 500-yard (5:47.08) and 1,000-yard (11:59.87) freestyle events for the Bulldogs.
The Barton swimming teams next compete in the Pacer Invite hosted by William Peace University at the Triangle Aquatic Center on Friday, November 22, and Saturday, November 23, at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary, N.C.
