RALEIGH, N.C. – Both the Barton men's and women's swimming teams took third place at the 2024 Pacer Invite which concluded Saturday at the Pullen Aquatic Center.
Lynchburg men's and women's squads both took home team honors with 1,946.5 and 2,048.5 points, respectively.
On the women's side, Barton was led by graduate student
Megan Schueller (La Plata, Md.), who won the 50-yard freestyle (23.98) while taking runner-up in the 100-yard (1:05.98) and 200-yard (2:25.93) breaststroke.
Schueller was also part of the women's 200-yard medley relay which took first place with a time of 1:49.56. The Barton quartet included seniors
Sydney Hopkins (Pickerington, Ohio) and
Cristal Perdomo (Fredericksburg, Va.) and junior
Cali Younker (Blaine, Tenn.).
The Barton women's 400-yard medley relay – consisting of Schueller, Perdomo, Younker and sophomore
Caroline Goodman (Summerfield, N.C.) – took second overall (4:01.49).
Barton junior
Natan Alexandre (Sao Paulo, BRAZIL) won the men's 200-yard breaststroke (2:06.07) and finished second in the men's 100-yard breaststroke (57.27) while senior
Owen Rasinske (Hillsborough, N.C.) finished runner-up in the men's 200-yard freestyle (1:42.76).
The Barton swimming teams return to the pool for competition on Saturday, January 11, at 1:00 p.m., against UNC Pembroke in Pembroke, N.C.
