AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Barton men's golf team opened the Fall 2023 campaign with a sixth-place finish out of 18 schools at the Bearcat Invitational which concluded Tuesday with the third and final round at the Forest Hills Golf Club. Lander University served as the host institution.
The Bulldogs carded a one-under 683 on the par-72, 7,073-yard course while North Georgia, ranked No. 6 in NCAA Division II, won the 54-hole event with a 22-under 842. The Nighthawks were nine shots clear of Columbus State.
Barton was led by senior
Harrison Wierse (Wilmington, N.C.), who tied for 10th overall with a six-under 210 after three rounds of competition. West Florida's Nico Lang (Ingolstadt, GERMANY) was the individual winner thanks to a nine-under 207 performance.
Barton next competes in the Ironwood Collegiate Classic, hosted by East Carolina University, on Monday, October 2, and Tuesday, October 3, at the Ironwood Golf & Country Club in Greenville, N.C
