BELMONT, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team captured the 2023 Conference Carolinas Developmental Championship Monday evening with a 95-83 victory over Erskine at the Wheeler Center on the campus of Belmont Abbey College.
The Bulldogs, under Head Coach
Joel Zimmerman, were led sophomore guard
Isaiah Williams (Durham, N.C.) with 21 points while redshirt freshman guard
Javontae Jones (Lumberton, N.J.) added 19 points and was named Most Valuable Player to lead the Bulldogs.
Five players reached double figures for the Bulldogs, who forced the Flying Fleet into 24 turnovers. Erskine's Tyus Brooks (Laurel Hill, N.C.) led all scorers with 24 points in the losing effort. Barton also held a 46-39 advantage on the boards and hit 21 free throws to hold Erskine for the victory and the title.
