WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Barton men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened the 2023-24 campaign at the Winston-Salem College Kick-off Saturday at the JDL Fast Track.
Barton junior
Justin Copper (High Point, N.C.) took sixth place in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 51.47 seconds while freshman
Kaeden Martin (Clayton, N.C.) finished the men's 800-meter run in 2:02.34, good for eighth place overall to round out the Bulldogs' pair of top-ten marks on the day.
On the women's side, sophomore
Keiarra Tutt (Pamlico, N.C.) had the Bulldogs' top finish on the day: 13th in the 200-meter dash (26.40) in addition to an 18th-place finish in the 400-meter run (1:02.44).
Other top-20 finishes for Barton was sophomore
Aniya Heckstall (Scotland Neck, N.C.) in the women's 200-meter dash (16th, 26.58), sophomore
Gabrel Morrison (Concord, N.C.) in the men's 800-meter dash (16th, 2:11.77), freshman
Jalen Bacon (Monroe, N.C.) in the men's 800-meter dash (18th, 2:13.09) and senior
Braxton Fontaine (Rumford, R.I.) in the men's long jump (13th, 21'6") and men's high jump (18th, 6'1").
