SALISBURY, N.C. – The Barton College men's and women's cross country teams opened their respective Fall 2021 seasons at the Fleet Feet Invitational Saturday morning at Salisbury Community Park.
On the women's side, the Bulldogs finished 11th overall while Lenoir-Rhyne was the top squad with 30 points. Barton was led by senior
Morgan Lane (Elm City, N.C.), who finished 49th overall with a time of 23:31 over the 5K course. Lenoir-Rhyne's Janet Kwambai (Iten, KENYA) won the race after crossing the finish line in 19:07.
The Bulldogs' men's team took seventh place out of 12 squads while the host school, Catawba, took first overall. Barton was paced by sophomore
Amando Robles (Wilson, N.C.). Robles ran the 8K race in 27:43 and finished 15th overall. Catawba's Matthew Fowler (Concord, N.C.) was the top individual, clocking a 25:58 to capture first place.
The Barton cross country squads next compete in the UNC Wilmington Beach Blast 5K on Friday, September 10, at Olsen Park in Wilmington, N.C.
