WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Barton men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2025 campaign Saturday evening at the UNC Wilmington Beach Blast at Veterans Park.
On the men's side, North Carolina Central won the team title with a total of 50 points while the Bulldogs finished seventh overall.
Barton was led by sophomore
Trey Lamm (Lucama, N.C.), who ran the 5K course in a time of 16:57 to finish 16th overall while NCCU's Emmanuel Paddyfote won the race in 15:32.
In the women's competition, UNCW took home team honors with 31 points. Barton placed seventh overall.
Barton freshman
Lena Warren (Clayton, N.C.) was the top Bulldog overall. Warren took 26th overall in 21:48 while North Carolina Central's Alitza Dennard was the individual medalist. Dennard finished with a time of 19:33.
Barton returns to competition on Friday, September 19, to run in the Adidas Challenge at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
