Barton’s Edwin Montaruli earns national weekly men’s volleyball accolades from Off The Block

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Barton College's Edwin Montaruli has been named the Off The Block National Libero of the Week for NCAA Division I-II Men's Volleyball.

Montaruli, a senior from Sugar Land, Texas, averaged 13.3 digs in three contests last week including a 19-dig performance Saturday on the road against King (Tenn.) in Bristol, Tenn.  Montaruli leads the team in digs (40) this year to go along with six assists.

The National Position Player of the Week Awards recognize the libero, middle attacker, opposite, outside attacker and setter who had the best performances in NCAA Division I-II men's volleyball during the week. In addition, the National Player of the Week is presented to the top freshman from the week in NCAA Division I-II men's volleyball.

The Off the Block staff determines each award recipient. The winners are announced every week during the regular season on the Off the Block website, offtheblockblog.com.  Off the Block is a national award-winning website that launched in 2011 and is the nation's leader in college men's volleyball coverage.

Barton (3-2) returns to the court to take on Queens (4-7) on Wednesday night beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Wilson Gymnasium.
