TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (12-16) fell to North Greenville (13-11) by a 3-1 score in the Quarterfinal Round of the 2026 Conference Carolinas Championship Wednesday evening at Hayes Gymnasium.
The Trailblazers won over the Bulldogs by scores of 23-25, 25-18, 25-19 and 25-23 and beat Barton for the third time this season.
North Greenville, the fourth seed in the tournament, will take on top-seeded Belmont Abbey (18-5) in the semifinals on Saturday at 5:00 p.m., in Belmont, N.C. Barton was seeded fifth in the tournament.
North Greenville was led by Yoriano Velez Vaga (Juncos, PUERTO RICO) with a match-high 22 kills while Thomas Roper (Acworth, Ga.) tallied a double-double – 14 kills and 13 digs – in the victory.
North Greenville also totaled 11 blocks and limited the Bulldogs to a 0.147 hitting percentage in the win.
Barton was led by freshman outside hitter
Jacob Martinez (Tucson, Ariz.) with a team-high 16 kills in addition to nine digs while sophomore outside hitter
Lawson Hink (Brookfield, Wis.) had 10-kill, nine-dig performance in the setback.
