Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Barton men's volleyball team (5-2) recovered from a loss the night earlier to sweep Sacred Heart (4-2), 3-0, Saturday evening at the William H. Pitt Center. The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-22.
Barton was led by freshman outside hitter Nicolo Mancin (Montecchio Maggiore, ITALY) with 14 kills, six digs and three service aces while sophomore outside hitter Adrian Iglesias (Guaynabo, PUERTO RICO) added 13 kills as the Bulldogs hit .389 for the match.
Barton senior setter Oscar Fiorentino (Bayamon, PUERTO RICO) dished out 39 assists in the victory as well. Fiorentino now has 2,225 assists for his career and leads the league in assists per set (9.52).
For Sacred Heart, Calin Butler (Lincoln, RHODE ISLAND) finished with nine kills and eight digs in the setback. The Pioneers, however, hit just .247 for the match.
Barton returns home to take on North Greenville in a Conference Carolinas match on Saturday, February 15, at 4:00 p.m., while Sacred Heart faces Charleston (W.Va.) on the road on Friday beginning at 7:00 p.m.
