Box Score WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (4-2) won its second straight game with an impressive 14-8 victory over Catawba (1-2) Thursday evening at the Electric Supply Company Field.
Barton junior attacker Angelina Scarpa (Hicksville, N.Y.) finished with nine total points – four goals and five assists – and the Bulldogs pulled away with five straight scores to start the second half after holding a 6-5 advantage at intermission. Scarpa continues to lead the team in goals (16), assists (13) and total points (29).
Sophomore midfielder Lydia Hulshizer (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) and junior midfielder Kayli Ashenfelter (Stewartstown, Pa.) added three goals each for the Bulldogs while Barton junior Katherine Mattena (Salt Lake City, Utah) earned the win in goal after tallying 10 saves.
For Catawba, Katie Barth (Baltimore, Md.) scored three times while Aryn Dorr (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) suffered the loss in goal despite 11 stops on the day. The Indians did hold the advantage in ground balls (29-21) in the losing effort.
Barton hits the road to take on Belmont Abbey on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., in a Conference Carolinas contest while Catawba hosts Mars Hill on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m.
