Box Score LAURINBURG, N.C. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (3-2) scored early and often in dispatching St. Andrews (2-2), 22-1, Tuesday afternoon at Knights Field.
Barton was led by junior attacker Angelina Scarpa (Hicksville, N.Y.) with four goals as the Bulldogs scored 19 straight times to end the match in the dominant victory. Scarpa currently leads the team in goals scored (12), assists (eight) and total points (20).
Barton sophomore midfielder Lydia Hulshizer (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) and freshman attacker Hanna Abbruzzese (Clayton, N.C.) both added three goals and an assist as the Bulldogs held decisive advantages in both shots taken (40-3) and ground balls (58-20).
In goal, Barton junior Katherine Mattena (Salt Lake City, Utah) earned the win while St. Andrews' Olivia Bartlett (Jacksonville, Fla.) suffered the loss despite eight saves. Shania Johnson (Hickory, N.C.) scored the lone goal of the match for the Knights.
Barton returns home to face Catawba on Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m., at the Electric Supply Company Field while St. Andrews plays at Point University on Saturday at Noon in West Point, Ga.
