Box Score MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (8-2, 5-0) made it four victories in a row with a 3-0 sweep over rival Mount Olive (8-7, 4-2) Wednesday night in a Conference Carolinas match at Kornegay Arena.
The Bulldogs defeated the Trojans by scores of 25-18, 25-23, and 25-21 and moved into a first-place tie with King (Tenn.) in the league regular season standings.
Barton was led by senior right side hitter Angelos Mandilaris (Chalkida, GREECE) with a match-high 17 kills and 10 digs while freshman outside hitter Nicolo Mancin (Montecchio Maggiore, ITALY) added 11 kills in the victory.
Barton senior setter Oscar Fiorentino (Bayamon, PUERTO RICO) dished out 41 assists as the Bulldogs hit .333 for the match. Mount Olive's Jarrod Ferguson (Auckland, NEW ZEALAND) finished with 14 kills in the losing effort and the home team lost its second straight contest.
Barton faces Queens in Charlotte, N.C., on Friday beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Mount Olive hosts Randolph-Macon on Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
