Box Score TAMPA, Fla. – The Barton baseball team (2-0) rallied from a four-run deficit to defeat Saint Leo (0-2) Saturday afternoon at George Steinbrenner Field.
Barton senior outfielder Noah Almond (Raleigh, N.C.) hit the walk-off, run-scoring single in the bottom of the ninth inning with one out as the Bulldogs rallied from a 6-2 deficit to remain unbeaten on the season. Senior outfielder Trevor Edior (Los Angeles, Calif.) crossed the plate for the game-winning run.
Both Almond and Edior finished with three runs and an RBI while senior third baseman JoJo Allen (Clarksville, Tenn.) hit a solo home run in the triumph as well. Junior Jared Davis (Poquoson, Va.) (1-0) retired the final 10 batters to earn the victory for the Bulldogs in relief while Saint Leo's Jestin Jones (Fort Myers, Fla.) (0-1) suffered the loss.
The Lions' Jake Vander Wal (Ada, Mich.) and Sam Crail (Sheridan, Ind.) both hit home runs and drove in two despite the loss.
Barton wraps up its state of Florida trip with a game against Columbus State on Sunday beginning at 11:00 a.m., while Saint Leo faces Catawba Sunday at Noon.
