Box Score FAIRFAX, Va. – The Barton men's volleyball team (4-1) knocked off Loyola Chicago (3-7), 3-0, an NCAA Division I school, Saturday on the final day of the Uvaldo Acosta Invitational at the Recreational Activity Center on the campus of George Mason University.
The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-14, 33-31 and 35-33 to split its two games this weekend at the invitational.
Barton was led by senior right side hitter Angelos Mandilaris (Chalkida, GREECE) with a match-high 25 kills and eight digs while sophomore outside hitter Adrian Iglesias (Guaynabo, PUERTO RICO) added 10 kills and senior setter Oscar Fiorentino (Bayamon, PUERTO RICO) totaled 34 assists and seven digs in the win.
The Bulldogs hit .294 for the contest and totaled 15.5 blocks in the triumph. Loyola Chicago was led by Kyle Piekarski (Plainfield, Ill.) and Cole Schlothauer (Mechanicsville, Va.) with 13 kills each despite the loss.
Barton next faces Harvard on Friday, February 7, in Cambridge, Mass., beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Loyola Chicago hosts Purdue Fort Wayne next Saturday starting at 8:00 p.m.
