Barton men's volleyball sweeps second straight opponent, 3-0 over Erskine

DUE WEST, S.C. –  The Barton men's volleyball team (3-0, 2-0) picked up its second consecutive sweep of a Conference Carolinas opponent, 3-0 over Erskine (1-4, 0-3) Saturday afternoon at Belk Arena.  The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-21, 25-16 and 25-21.

Barton was led by senior right side hitter Angelos Mandilaris (Chalkida, GREECE), who finished with 13 kills and a .812 hitting percentage.  Senior setter Oscar Fiorentino (Bayamon, PUERTO RICO) added 16 assists as the Bulldogs hit .397 in the victory.  Mandilaris increased his kill career total to 1,200, a program record.

Erskine was led by Jacob Whyte (Lockport, Ill.) with nine kills but the Flying Fleet was limited to just a .151 hitting percentage.  Barton also finished with 12 blocks on the day.

Barton next competes against Lewis on Friday, January 31, in the Uvaldo Acosta Invitational in Fairfax, Va., beginning at 5:00 p.m., while Erskine next hosts Saint Andrews on Tuesday beginning at 7:00 p.m.
