Box Score FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Barton men's volleyball team (2-0 ,1-0) opened Conference Carolinas play with a 3-0 sweep of Emmanuel (Georgia) (0-5, 0-2) Friday evening at the Shaw Athletic Center. The Bulldogs swept the Lions by scores of 25-19, 27-25 and 25-17 to remain unbeaten on the season.
Barton senior right side hitter Angelos Mandilaris (Chalkida, GREECE) finished with a match-high 15 kills and became the school's all-time leader in kills with 1,187. Barton sophomore outside hitter Adrian Iglesias (Guaynabo, PUERTO RICO) added nine kills as the Bulldogs hit .382 for the match in the victory.
Emmanuel – still searching for its first win of the year – was led by Don Thompson (Haiku, Hawai'i) with 14 kills in the setback. The Lions hit just .209 for the match and was set point away from taking the second game but the Bulldogs rallied with the final three points. Barton senior setter Oscar Fiorentino (Bayamon, PUERTO RICO) added 33 assists and seven digs in the triumph as well.
Barton remains on the road to take on Erskine in conference action on Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m., while Emmanuel hosts Mount Olive Saturday morning beginning at 11:00 a.m.
