Barton women's tennis falls to Limestone on the road in the regular season finale

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (14-8, 7-4) fell to first-place Limestone (13-6, 11-0) by a 5-2 score on Monday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest and the regular season finale at the Emmie Evans Rector Center.

Despite the loss, junior Marissa Stevenson (Kirk Michael, ISLE OF MAN) won at singles and doubles for the Bulldogs.  Stevenson teamed with junior Vanessa Sanoja (Bolivar, VENEZUELA) to triumph at No. 2 doubles for the sixth straight match and beat Felicitas Picinini (Cordoba, ARGENTINA) by a score of 6-3 and 6-2 at third singles.

In addition, Barton sophomore Claudia Capellades (Barcelona, SPAIN) and freshman Isabella Caballero (La Paz, BOLIVIA) made it 12 straight victories together at third doubles, 6-3 over Ana Chirila (Cannes, FRANCE) and Ruby Kubac (Toronto, Ontario, CANADA).

The Barton women's tennis team next competes in the 2019 Conference Carolinas Championship beginning with the quarterfinal round on Friday, April 26, at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.  The Bulldogs will be the fifth seed in the tournament and will take on fourth-seeded Mount Olive on Friday at Noon.
