Barton women's tennis takes care of Lees-McRae, 7-0, in league contest

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (13-7, 6-3) earned an impressive Conference Carolinas victory with a 7-0 blanking of Lees-McRae (12-12, 4-6) on Monday morning at the Greenfield School in the final home match of the regular season.

Barton junior Marissa Stevenson (Kirk Michael, ISLE OF MAN), senior Vanessa Sanoja (Bolivar, VENEZUELA), sophomore Claudia Capellades (Barcelona, SPAIN) and freshman Isabella Caballero (La Paz, BOLIVIA) all came out on top in singles and doubles' competition as the Bulldogs won their second straight match.

The duo of Capellades and Caballero continued to roll at third doubles with their 10th straight victory together after a 6-2 triumph over Lees-McRae's Rebecca Pierce (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) and Jaden Acklin (Montgomery, Ala.).  In addition, Stevenson and Sanoja made it four victories in a row at No. 2 doubles.

Barton returns to the court to take on Converse in a league contest in Spartanburg, S.C., on Thursday beginning at 3:00 p.m., while Lees-McRae hosts Limestone on Saturday at Noon.
