Barton women's tennis takes care of King (Tennessee), 7-0

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (12-7, 5-3) shut out King (Tenn.) (1-15, 0-10), 7-0, in a Conference Carolinas match Sunday afternoon at the Bulldogs complex.

Barton – which snapped a three-match losing streak in the process – was led by seniors Daria Avram (Buzau, ROMANIA) and Vanessa Sanoja (Bolivar, VENEZUELA) and sophomore Ada Vargas (Lima, PERU).  The trio won at both singles and doubles on the day.

Avram won her third straight match at first singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over King's Marylin Roustand (Satelite, MEXICO) while Sanoja teamed with junior Marissa Stevenson (Kirk Michael, ISLE OF MAN) to prevail at No. 2 doubles for the third consecutive contest as well.  The duo beat Roustand and Lauren Smorgonsky (Worcester, Mass.) by a 6-1 score.

Barton hosts Lees-McRae in its home finale on Monday morning at 11:00 a.m., while King visits Chowan for a league contest on Monday at 11:30 a.m., in Murfreesboro, N.C.
