Barton women's tennis stays unbeaten in league play, 6-1 over North Greenville

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (11-4, 4-0) remained unbeaten in Conference Carolinas play with a 6-1 victory over North Greenville (3-11, 1-3) Saturday afternoon at the Vance Complex.  The Bulldogs are now 8-1 in their last nine contests.

Senior Daria Avram (Buzau, ROMANIA), freshman Isabella Caballero (La Paz, BOLIVIA) and sophomore Claudia Capellades (Barcelona, SPAIN) all prevailed in singles and doubles play today to lead the Bulldogs to the victory. 

Avram pulled out a 4-6, 6-2, and 12-10 win at first singles over North Greenville's Gala Castello (Barcelona, SPAIN) and teamed with sophomore Ada Vargas (Lima, PERU) in a 6-2 victory over Castello and Jhovana Brena (Estado de Mexico, MEXICO) at No. 1 doubles.

Meanwhile, Caballero and Capellades blanked the Crusaders' Bethany Tankersely (Travelers Rest, S.C.) and Nicole Dalious (Felton, Del.) by a 6-0 score at No. 3 doubles.  The duo has won six straight matches in doubles' action together and Caballero improved to 12-1 in singles' competition including 11 consecutive victories.

Barton hosts Emmanuel (Ga.) in a conference match on Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., while North Greenville takes on Southern Wesleyan on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., in Central, S.C.
