Box Score WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (16-3, 10-1) stayed red hot with a 3-0 sweep of North Greenville (15-8, 8-4) Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas match at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs – who pushed their winning streak to 10 matches – won by scores of 25-21, 25-17 and 25-18. Barton is ranked No. 2 in the Off the Block Division II National Coaches Poll.
Barton senior right side hitter Angelos Mandilaris (Chalkida, GREECE) finished with a match-high 14 kills while senior middle blocker Justice Lord (Hilo, Hawaii) added 10 kills and hit .833 for the contest as the Bulldogs also won for the 16th time in the last 17 contests.
Mandilaris now has a season-high 293 kills on the year – 30 shy of 1,000 for his career – and the Bulldogs hit .468 for the contest in the victory. The Bulldogs were also avenging their lone loss in conference play: a 3-2 setback to the Crusaders on Saturday, February 2, on the road.
North Greenville was led by Cade McGee (Brea, Calif.) with 10 kills but the Crusaders hit just .225 for the match and committed 14 service errors in the setback.
Barton remains at home to face Limestone on Saturday at Wilson Gymnasium in a league match beginning at 2:00 p.m., while North Greenville takes on Mount Olive on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., in Mount Olive, N.C.
