Box Score FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Barton men's volleyball team (14-3, 9-1) stayed red hot with a 3-1 Conference Carolinas win over Emmanuel (Ga.) (8-15, 3-8) Saturday afternoon on the road at the Shaw Athletic Center.
The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-17, 22-25, 25-22 and 25-18 and pushed their winning streak to eight matches. Barton is also 14-1 in its last 15 contests and remained in sole possession of first place in the league standings.
Barton had tremendous balance on the day with five players notching at least seven kills with junior right side hitter Angelos Mandilaris (Chalkida, GREECE) and senior outside hitter Vasilis Mandilaris (Chalkida, GREECE) leading the way with 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Angelos Mandilaris continues to lead the squad in kills with 257.
Junior setter Oscar Fiorentino (Bayamon, PUERTO RICO) added 44 assists and six digs for the Bulldogs, who hit .383 for the match and totaled eight service aces in sweeping the season series from the Lions. Emmanuel was led by Aleksa Lakic (Sremska Kamenica, SERBIA) and Don Thompson (Haiku, HAWAII) with 12 kills each but the Lions saw their two-match winning streak come to an end.
Barton returns home to take on NCAA Division I Harvard University on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m., while Emmanuel travels to Tigerville, S.C., to take on North Greenville Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
