Box Score BELMONT, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (12-3, 7-1) made it six in a row with a 3-1 triumph over Belmont Abbey (8-5, 4-4) in a Conference Carolinas contest Friday evening at the Wheeler Center.
The Bulldogs downed the Crusaders by scores of 25-22, 25-20, 23-25 and 25-18 and improved to 12-1 in their last 13 contests as well.
Barton was led by junior right side hitter Angelos Mandilaris (Chalkida, GREECE) with a career-high 32 kills while freshman outside hitter Adrian Iglesias (Guaynabo, PUERTO RICO) added 13 kills as the Bulldogs hit .495 for the match. Mandilaris has a team-leading 222 kills on the season.
Belmont Abbey's Andrew Kohut (Naperville, Ill.) and Liam Maxwell (Manahawkin, N.J.) both finished with a team-high 17 kills but the Crusaders suffered their second straight setback.
Barton junior setter Oscar Fiorentino (Bayamon, PUERTO RICO) also had a big match – a season-high 55 assists and seven digs – as the Bulldogs stayed a half-game up on King (Tenn.) in the league regular season standings.
Barton takes a break until Friday, March 15, when the Bulldogs travel to Due West, S.C., to take on Erskine in a conference match at 7:00 p.m., while Belmont Abbey hosts Lourdes (Ohio) on Monday, March 11, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
