Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (11-3) picked up a 3-0 road win over Queens (4-12) Saturday afternoon at the Levine Center and Curry Arena. The Bulldogs – winners of five straight and 11-1 in their last 12 contests – won by scores of 25-20, 25-14 and 25-17.
Barton was led by senior right side hitter Angelos Mandilaris (Chalkida, GREECE) with 10 kills and eight digs while sophomore outside hitter Emil Oefstaas (Algard, NORWAY) added eight kills as the Bulldogs limited the Royals to a negative .011 hitting percentage. Mandilaris also increased his team-leading kill total to 190.
The Royals' Cody Nix (Sierra Vista, Ariz.) finished with seven kills and Alexander Schinzing (Orlando, Fla.) added 22 assists in the losing effort.
Barton junior setter Oscar Fiorentino (Bayamon, PUERTO RICO) added 18 assists and three digs as the Bulldogs' swept their eighth opponent on the year.
Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play to take on Belmont Abbey on Friday at 7:00 p.m., in Belmont, N.C., while Queens travels to Harrogate, Tenn., to take on Lincoln Memorial on Thursday beginning at 7:00 p.m.
