Barton men's volleyball wins fourth consecutive match, 3-1 over rival Mount Olive

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (10-3, 6-1) remained in sole possession of first place in the Conference Carolinas standings with a 3-1 victory over Mount Olive (5-8, 5-3) Tuesday evening at Wilson Gymnasium.  The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-18, 25-15, 20-25 and 25-17.

The Bulldogs were led by junior outside hitter Angelos Mandilaris (Chalkida, GREECE), who finished with a team-high 18 kills and four service aces while freshman outside hitter Adrian Iglesias (Guaynabo, PUERTO RICO) – the reigning league player of the week - added 12 kills and six digs in the win.

Barton also hit .468 for the match in picking up its fourth straight victory.  Senior middle blocker Justice Lord (Hilo, Hawai'i) came up big for the Bulldogs as well, totaling nine kills, four blocks and a .900 hitting percentage.  The Bulldogs are also 10-1 in their last 11 matches.

Mount Olive was led by Tobi Azeez (Melbourne, AUSTRALIA) with 13 kills and Nicholas Laxar (Vienna, AUSTRALIA) added 44 assists and five digs in the setback.

Barton steps out of Conference Carolinas play to travel to Charlotte, N.C., to take on Queens on Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m., while Mount Olive hosts Coker on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
