Box Score WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (5-2, 2-0) increased its winning streak to five matches with a 3-0 sweep of Erskine (2-7, 1-2) Saturday afternoon at Wilson Gymnasium in Conference Carolinas action. The Bulldogs, who swept their third consecutive match, won by scores of 25-20, 25-14 and 25-20.
The Bulldogs' offensive attack was the story as Barton hit .439 for the match including a contest-high 19 kills from junior right side hitter Angelos Mandilaris (Chalkida, GREECE). Senior outside hitter Vasilis Mandilaris (Chalkida, GREECE) added nine kills while both players hit over .600 for the match for the Bulldogs. Angelos Mandilaris now has a league-leading 99 kills on the season.
Erskine's Josh Arrowood (Lake Forest, Ill.) finished with 11 kills but the Flying Fleet was limited to just a .190 hitting percentage for the match. Lancy Aldebol (San Juan, PUERTO RICO) added seven kills but the visitors suffered their second straight setback.
Barton junior setter Oscar Fiorentino (Bayamon, PUERTO RICO) dished out 34 assists in addition to four digs as the Bulldogs stayed atop the league standings.
Barton hits the road to take on Limestone in a Conference Carolinas game on Friday, February 1, at 7:00 p.m., in Gaffney, S.C., while Erskine hosts league-foe King on Friday at 7:00 p.m., as well.
