Barton men's soccer outlasts Piedmont International, 5-4, on the road

BERMUDA RUN, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (8-3-1) got back on the winning track with a 5-4 victory over Piedmont International (3-8) Wednesday evening at the BB&T Soccer Park.

Barton's Pol Monells, a sophomore forward from Barcelona, SPAIN, tallied a hat trick and scored the match-winner in the 82nd minute to lead the Bulldogs to the triumph.  Sophomore forward Ruben Mancio (Cadiz, SPAIN) added his team-leading 10th goal of the year for the Bulldogs, who held a sizeable 31-9 advantage in shots taken in the victory.

The Bruins' Jose Perez (Mount Airy, N.C.) led the home team with a pair of goals and an assist in a match that featured three ties.

Barton's Francisco Noguera (Santiago, CHILE) earned the victory in goal after making a pair of saves while Piedmont International's goalkeeper, Tony Ramirez (Kannapolis, N.C.), suffered the loss despite making seven stops.

Barton hosts Lees-McRae for Senior Day in a Conference Carolinas match on Saturday beginning at 4:00 p.m., at the Bulldogs' Outdoor Athletic Complex.  Piedmont International travels to Charlotte, N.C., to take on Johnson & Wales Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
