WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's tennis team moved to 5-4 overall in Conference Carolinas play with an 8-1 win over the visiting Tornado of King (Tenn.) University on Saturday at the Barton Tennis Complex.
King, playing with only five eligible members, forfeited the No. 3 doubles match before Barton picked up wins in the No. 2 and No. 1 positions for a 3-0 lead.
Barton also got a point from a forfeit in the No. 6 position, as King's only point of the match came via a win at No. 5. Sophomore Daria Avram clinched the match for BC with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 1 spot, her fifth singles win in a row.
Sophomore Vanessa Sanoja freshman Marissa Stevenson and redshirt-senior Lorraine Chon-Qui each won their respective singles match for the Royal Blue and White.
BC continues league play tomorrow with a contest against Lees-McRae College in Wilson at Noon.
