WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College men's volleyball team broke a three-game losing streak with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-10) victory over defending Conference Carolinas Champion Erskine College on Friday night inside Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs and Flying Fleet played two tightly contested sets to begin the match with BC winning both by six and five points, respectively.
However, in the third set of play, Barton hit .438 as a team and forced Erskine into a -.318 hitting percentage to claim a convincing 15-point victory.
Barton began the third set on an 8-2 run and ended the set scoring seven of the final eight points. For the match, BC hit .213, while the Fleet were unable to produce a positive hitting percentage.
Sophomore Vasilis Mandilaris led all players with 12 kills, while fellow sophomore Justice Lord filled up the stat sheet with seven kills, five digs, two service aces and two total blocks.
Senior setter Federico Pagliara paced the offense with 25 assists and registered four digs on defense.
Barton remains in Wilson as the team hosts Emmanuel College tomorrow at 2 p.m. in a Conference Carolinas matchup.
