BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Barton College women's tennis team is still looking for its first Conference Carolinas win after falling to Lees-McRae College 6-3 on Friday afternoon.
The Bobcats were ahead 2-1 after doubles play as Barton's No. 3 doubles duo of Dana Kelly and Rebecca Lamm earned a point with an 8-3 win, the tandem's fifth victory of the season.
Lees-McRae added another point with a win at No. 5 singles before Kelly earned a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles.
The Bobcats put the match away with back-to-back wins at No. 1 and No. 4 singles as freshman Vanessa Sanoja won her fourth consecutive match at No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6) decision. LMC won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6 singles for its final point of the match.
Barton travels to Bristol, Tenn. on Saturday afternoon for a match with league foe King University at 11 a.m.
