GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Barton College men's volleyball team moved its current win streak to six games with a 3-1 (16-25, 25-16, 27-25, 25-12) win over Limestone College on Saturday afternoon at the Timken Center.
Senior Pierre Tang-Taye led BC with 18 kills and a .500 hitting percentage to go along with eight digs, while freshman Aleksa Brkovic finished with 16 kills and a .500 hitting percentage of his own.
Freshman Vasilis Mandilaris also finished in double-digits with 10 kills as junior Federico Pagliara led all players with 46 assists. Freshman libero Kekaulike Alameda registered a match-high 10 digs on defense.
Limestone took an early lead in the match with 25-16 victory in the first set. However, the Bulldogs shook off the rust and rebounded for a 25-16 win of their own in the second set to tie the match.
The third set saw Barton and Limestone play to 13 total ties as neither team was able to pull away. The Saints led 25-24 but a kill by Brkovic and back-to-back Limestone attack errors led to the BC win. Barton jumped out to an 8-2 lead early in the fourth set, leading to a 25-12 victory and match win.
Barton will have a week and a half off before playing against McKendree University on Friday, March 18 in Bristol, Tenn. on the campus of King University.
