SUMTER, S.C. – The Barton College women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 loss to Augusta University on Saturday on a neutral court at the Palmetto Tennis Center.
Senior Smiljana Kljajic earned Barton's only point of the day at No. 1 single over Augusta's Brooke Durden with a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9) win in a super tiebreaker.
Kljajic and freshman Vanessa Sanoja put up a fight in No. 1 doubles competition before falling 8-5 to Durden and Maria C. Pimental.
The Jaguars made quick work of the remainder of the matches, dropping just four total games in the remaining four singles matches and two games in the other two doubles matches.
Barton returns to action on Tuesday, February 9 when it hosts Francis Marion University at the Barton Tennis Complex beginning at 1 p.m.
